First, decide on a name and some alternatives, in case the one you want
isn't available. Avoid hyphens, numerals or other marks that people may mistype.
And go for the ".com" version — that's the one most people are used to
typing in their browsers.
Note: Your company or personal name doesn't always make the best domain name. Use of keywords in the name can help your site's search engine ranking.
Show the possible names to lots of people: your partner, your kids,
your family, your friends. Ask which one:
1. You feel comfortable saying, over and over.
2. You don't have to tell people how to spell.
3. Contains keywords that match your site content.
4. Helps explain the site's purpose.
5. Is the most memorable.
Then go to a registrar. I like GoDaddy.com because if
a name's already taken, GoDaddy will suggest similar ones that are open.
Note: If Sheer will be designing your site, designate us as your administrative / technical contact, and forward all confirmation messages to us. Once
your site is up and running, we'll switch the administration to you if you prefer.
Just remember, once you secure your domain name, you must maintain it. If your e-mail address or contact information changes, make sure you notify the registrar.
